DUNCAN'S VISIT HONG KONG

Ann & William Duncan (my aunt & uncle) from Boulder, Colorado came to visit Hong Kong for three days. We had a great time together and it was a treat to have them visit the island.
PHOTO#1: The Peak (unfortunately, it was quite hazy)
PHOTO#2: IFC2 (Kathleen's office building)
PHOTO#3: Cat Street (shopping for goodies)
PHOTO#4: Hong Kong Park (a favorite)
Hope to see you both again soon... happy trails!

RESETTLEMENT BUILDINGS

We went to the history museum this past weekend in Kowloon and took a two and one half hour guided tour. The British built high rise resettlement buildings that housed the Chinese. The above photos are examples of what a family of eight (8), yes eight (8), would commonly live in. Notice that there is no kitchen or bathroom... the cooking was done in the outside hallway by the front door and the "bathroom" was located on each floor at one end of the building. These resettlement buildings were 7-8 stories tall and had no plumbing. These conditions must have been horrible.
